Materials for Interior Partitions: difficult to choose – easy to use

Interior partitions help you to organize the space and even arrange the area according to your needs. Your desire to have a comfortable, modern and suitable partition will be satisfied with a huge selection of materials for their production. In general, all the interior partitions are divided into two groups – assembled and frame-based. The first group includes partitions made of building materials – bricks, boards, blocks. To the second group we refer partitions constructed on the frame base, to which the selected material (plywood, drywall, etc.) is attached.

The most common material for the partitions is brick. Such wall is known for its strength, can held lots of shelves, wall cabinets and paintings. However, you have to spend a lot of time for plastering the partitions. There are some nuances: standard brick weighs about 3.6 kg and per meter of brickwork you can waste up to 60 units of brick. The load on the floor will be about 250 kilos, so it is not recommended to install the brick walls in old buildings. Therefore, bricks for interior partitions are used very seldom.

Wooden interior partitions are good to those who like to surround themselves with natural materials. Metal frame is "sheathed" by board or plywood, beam is also used. Generally, quite strong durable and environmental friendly construction is made. But sound insulation of such partitions is not at the highest level and the need for a specific temperature and humidity for long preservation of wood makes this material suitable not for everyone. Interior partition made of timber can withstand loading from 100 to 135 kg/m2, suitable for the average buildings. Remember that wood materials are flammable, so the electrical wiring, which will be installed under the partition must be isolated.

Drywall was added to the line of materials for decoration and room construction years ago. Metal frame, to which from both sides are mounted drywall boards, sound and thermal insulation materials inside – and your partition is ready in a short period of time. Light and fire resistant, the partition is perfectly smooth and often doesn't need additional processing. Yet there are some disadvantages of this material, such as poor moisture resistance, fragility, inability to hold heavy objects. On the other hand, the flexibility of the material allows us to produce varied and diverse shapes, curves and three-dimensional constructions.

Glass interior walls – the latest fad in the design of homes and offices. Clear lines, combination of light and transparency not only visually increase the room but also add an atmosphere of lightness. As a material is used tempered toughened glass with the thickness of 12 mm in different configurations transparent, frosted, tinted, patterned, with the paintings, in other words – for every taste. Mounted on an aluminum frame. At first glance it seems that you won't be able to hang anything on such wall, but some manufacturers, for example, company Komandor SA, provided in the construction of glass partitions possibility of installing cables and sockets and switches. The only nuance is the size of the glass you need to accurately measure all the parameters, because it will be impossible to change the size of the partition during installation. But fashionable design and bright room decoration is guaranteed!

The choice of materials for the construction of partition of course is really important thing. This parameter depends on personal preferences, the overall design and functions the new wall should perform. Only properly chosen, taking into account all the needs, materials and made on order interior partitions will serve you for a long time and entertain you by their appearance.
